Who’s behind this blog?
Hello and welcome to my blog! The name’s Fiorucci (pronounced as Fee-
In this blog, I aim to leave a spark to my readers that there is so much to see. If we desire for it, we can always travel around the globe despite our circumstances. Plus, our world is constantly changing, and wouldn’t it be great to tell stories in the future about how the places look today? Reminiscing is fun~
Whimsy Drifter is still a baby born in March 2017 that I will always feed with contents about DIY trips, travel guides, hacks, resources and a bit of my personal diary.
WHAT MADE ME TRAVEL?
Being born in the 90’s is very fortunate. Childhood always plays a great impact on us, I remember running back home to watch shows about going on a journey with a purpose, having meaningful adventures and exploring unknown places (pssst…I’m an anime fan). There’s nothing major to note during my childhood days, I am that closeted person who can spend their whole summer vacation inside their room wrapped up playing RPG games and watching shows. Ahhhh~ to me, those were the days. It may be a bit unproductive, unhealthy and boring to some but, I regret nothing.
Taking in another persona inside those games have left a spark in me. A spark within me that asks, ‘why not go on a journey too? The world there was so enviable I once wished to be sucked inside LOL. Now then, if I can’t be sucked into the game, why not just bring the game here?
ASIDE FROM BEING A TRAVEL BLOGGER, WHAT ELSE DO YOU DO?
Apart from blogging, I work full time at home as a graphic designer, a freelancer and along the lines building my own business to fund my travels. If I get too stressed out working, I play some RPG games or have a marathon watching some inspirational shows.
Besides all this, my addiction to anime before led me to become an artist who paints and draws when given the time. I love doing different things and really hate a repetitive, boring lifestyle.
ANY SECRET GOALS/DREAMS?
Before my dream was to become a renowned artist but things and plans always change. Right now, I just want to retire from working before I turn 30, have an epic sustainable traveling lifestyle, rack up a lot of cash, buy an island and turn it into an animal sanctuary. To dream is free anyway LOL.
ABOUT THIS BLOG
Starting this blog was a very impulsive decision I made last March of 2017. I remember getting inspired reading a post that I thought of starting one too. Plus, the constant questions of my friends asking on some travel tips made me think of ‘why don’t I just record a summary of it?’. I also wanted to make myself busy too since I had a lot of free time before. And so, here it is. I still cannot believe that I just reached the mark of 5,000 page views a month only to start over from 0 again. Why? Read down below to know the timeline
THE BIRTH OF MY TRAVEL BLOG IN MARCH 2017 AS THESOLODRIFTER
Since this blog was started on an impulse, I haven’t thought of its name at all. I just went along with what sounds good, and at that time, the
Firstly, I don’t always do solo traveling. The name makes one think that I mostly or only travel solo.
Second, it felt like a lie.
And that is why I made a total rebranding of my travel site.
REBIRTH IN MARCH 2018 AS THE WHIMSYDRIFTER
Like on a whim, I chose Whimsy Drifter as my final name to use. As much as possible I wanted to have my personal name Fiorucci in my domain name. But, since it’s a popular brand name, I just don’t want to get caught in some issues. If I get caught, rebranding again would waste me a lot of time and energy.
Why the name Whimsy Drifter?
Like this blog that started as an impulse, the word whimsy has the word ‘whim’ in it, which somehow refers to my attitude too. This playful name also speaks for myself since traveling is always fun for me and I plan to share any silly stories I will have.
I just know I’ll be sticking with this name for a
